Hair and Beauty Australia is the peak body representing the hair and beauty industry in Australia. HBA is responsible for lobbying the state governments on issues that affect the industry nationally, and well as advising, assisting and representing its members across Australia.
HBA (NSW) was first established on 8 December 1925 as the ‘Master Ladies’ Hairdressing Association’, where the founding members included Vincent De Lorenzo, Norman Flohm and Fredrick Thompson. Approximately 24 years ago, the Association changed its name to the ‘Professional Hairdressers Association’ (PHA), and in late 2008, it again changed its name to ‘Hair and Beauty Australia’, when it merged with the Hairdressing Federation of Queensland at the same time that the new national body, ‘Hair and Beauty Australia’, was formed.
Members of HBA include hair and / or beauty salons, day spas, hair and beauty product manufacturers and suppliers, and training colleges.
In addition to representing the industry, HBA offer its members excellent professional services and commercial benefits to assist them in more effectively run their business.
